Fresh from its inaugural showing at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York, this brand new retrospective exhibition, showcasing the work of one of the film world's most creative minds, travels to ACMI as an Australian exclusive.
Both a retrospective and an intimate window into the mind of a true artist, Tim Burton will be the largest temporary exhibition ever staged in ACMI's Gallery 1. It will feature more than 700 drawings, paintings, photographs, storyboards, moving-image works, puppets, maquettes, costumes and cinematic ephemera, and will spotlight Burton's extensive filmography from his 27-year career, including rare early shorts.
Visitors to the Tim Burton exhibition will also be among the first in the world to see rare props, costumes and models from Burton's latest film, Alice in Wonderland, which will be released in March 2010.
Tim Burton opens at ACMI as part of Melbourne Winter Masterpieces 2010 on Thursday 24 June and will run through to Sunday 10 October 2010.
